Camel ride in the Camelpark

Riding a camel cannot only be done in the dessert, but also in southern Tenerife, where the weather and vegetation are just the ideal for the camel life. 43km away from the Parador de las Cañadas del Teide, in Arona, you will find the Camel Park, a place where you can see and meet camels and also take rides on their back. Also, in this park there is a farm where you can spend time in nature accompanied by animals.

A 30 minutes' ride in a camel costs 20 euros for adults and 10 euros for kids. Also, there are packages of ride and snack available. (*)

Whales and dolphins at Los Gigantes beach

The area of Los Gigantes has so much to offer, with a beautiful small beach right next to a giant cliff that will definitely amaze you, the possibility to take a tour of dolphin and whale watching and many spots to eat, this is a great place for a day full of adventure and fun.

Many types of excursions to see dolphins and wales are available from the Port of Los Gigantes. Some of them include just the ride, others include food on board and some may even include a ride through some of the most emblematic spots of the coast of the island.  Which one will you choose?

Villages in the west

In the west coast of the Island you will 3 charming villages with a lot to see and do, the Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava and Icod de los Vinos. Each of these villages is definitely worth visiting for many reasons.

 

  • In Puerto de la Cruz, there are so many things to do. Walking along the promenade and going into the pools of the Martiánez lake, having fun at the Loro Parque (zoo of Tenerife) or taking dips in playa Jardín, playa Chica or Punta Brava, the three beaches part of the complex of Playa Jardín are some of the main attractions.

 

  • La Orotava is not exactly in the coast, but is really close, only 7 km away from Puerto de la Cruz. This charming and colorful village will make you feel the colonial essence of the Canary Islands in first hand. Walking along the streets and checking out the house with the balconies, the church of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, the convent of San Agustín, the town hall and the gardens will leave you wanting more. 

 

  • Have you heard about the Drago Milenario? This is probable the most touristic spot in Icod de los Vinos, a pretty village located 25km away from La Orotava. The Drago Milenario is a huge tree that has been in that exact spot since for many years and its considered the most antique tree in the island. It has more than 16 meters tall and its surrounded by a beautiful park with many other smaller trees and vegetation.

 

The Parador de las Cañadas del Teide is located 40k away from Puerto de la Cruz and La Orotava through the TF-21 and 60km away from Icod de los Vinos through the TF-38.

Star Gazing from the observatory of El Teide

A guided tour through this observatory is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays in Spanish and English, for you to get to know the observatory and what the people that work there do.
