The Menga and Viera dolmens, located strategically and facing the mountainous formation of La Peña de los Enamorados in Antequera, Málaga, are tombs dating back to 6,500 years ago (Neolithic period). During your visit to these monuments that are imbedded within the scenery, you can picture how society lived and the architectonic planning that existed at the time. Thanks to the good preservation of the structure we can see great blocks of stone that make up the space and the tumulus that cover them.

• Menga dolmen, the biggest and most impressive one facing La Peña de los Enamorados, is built with an orthostatic technique and aligned with three pillars that coincide with the covering slabs. In it you can also find a 19.55 metres deep well, which happens to be the same length of the dolmen. This enables us to appreciate the accuracy of the measurements of this Neolithic construction.

• Inside the Viera dolmen we can find a mortuary chamber in which corpses were placed in the foetal posture with the corresponding tools and riches that had accompanied the person during their life. This is a temple and space for rites in which propitiatory ceremonies about fertility and in memory of their ancestors were held.

From these examples of European megalithic art we can see La Peña de los Enamorados, which seems to be the silhouette of the face of an Indian person. This is a natural formation, which was a symbolic and religious space during that time period.
