Paradores that could be setting Game of Thrones
29 de September 2015

It is not something new that the famous TV series Game of Thrones chose Spanish locations to film part of its new seasons. Mainly because of some antique remains that look perfect for the story as if they had been created for Game of Thrones to be filmed there. It is not something new either that Paradores counts with some of the most impressive medieval castles as part of its luxurious hotel chain. Castles that, why not, could be setting Game of Thrones. Do you want to know which Paradores we are talking about? Let's introduce you to Parador de Alarcón, Parador de Tortosa and Parador de Sigüenza.

Parador de Alarcón, a castle that dates back to the XVIII century. In a little village 83 kilometres far from the city of Cuenca, surrounded by the Júcar River and under an Arabic influence from the past History, the Parador de Alarcón appears. It is a place where nature invades the surroundings: green extensions of pines and coves, large esplanades, huge rocks... Could you imagen the pretty Daenerys, observing the place from the upper part of this huge castle, while her dragons are flying all around? Parador de Alarcón has such romantic bedrooms that will make you fall in love with this beautiful middle Age castle.

What about the Lannister? Of course we do have a place for them at our Paradores. Almost 90 kilometres away from Tarragona, the majestic castle where the Parador de Tortosa is settled. This Zuda Castle from the X century is located over the village: everything can be controlled from the upper part so as to guarantee protection with the fortress that surrounds it.  Big rooms, luxurious spaces but traditional medieval decoration make this Parador de Tortosa perfect for the Lannister to film as if this was their residence.

Parador de Sigüenza is our third choice to set a possible Game of Thrones film set. Parador de Sigüenza is a XII century construction located in what used to be a Moorish citadel over a Roman settlement, around 75 kilometres far from the city of Guadalajara. Sigüenza is an ancient city where History is spread all over the place as it does inside the Parador de Sigüenza walls. Large living rooms and comfy bedrooms, everything so lordy and majestic. Even the local cuisine with regional products, offering a huge festival of food and tradition. Parador de Sigüenza, a real palace that could be perfectly adapted to Game of Thrones medieval and unique style.
