Puerto de Santa María

The Port of Santa María is probably one of the most emblematic locations of the Costa de la Luz that offers everything needed to have a great time in a beach town. A nautical port, pools, a golf course and some beautiful beaches are offered in this area with more than 15km of coast. Forget about what stress means strolling through the streets of this village, watching the sunset from the bay and discovering the cultural and historical monuments of the area such as Castle of San Marcos, the Iglesia Mayor Prioral, the bullring and others along the old quarter. Besides, don´t miss the opportunity to visit one of the many wineries in the area and taste some great quality wines.

From the Parador de Cádiz to the Port of Santa María it takes approximately 30 minutes by car through the CA-35 or A-4.

Southern Villages

Conil de la Frontera is one of the villages of the Costa de la Luz that is located closer to the Parador de Cádiz. A great option to explore this village and the ones that follow it such as Conil de la Frontera, Caños de Meca, Zahara de los Atunes and Tarifa is by taking a road trip stopping a couple of hours in each village or taking a daytrip to the ones you prefer from the Parador de Cádiz.

 

  • Conil de la Frontera is the first stop from the Parador de Cádiz. In here, the beach is obviously the protagonist with many beautiful creeks of crystalline blue water and golden sand.  The creeks of Roche, perfect for bathing and the beach of the Bateles, ideal for windsurf and kitesurf are two great spots in Conil de la Frontera. Besides the beaches, stroll along the streets of this little village and discover some of its main monuments such as the lighthouse of Trafalgar.To get from the Parador de Cádiz to the charming village of Conil de la Frontera it takes approximately 1 hour by car through the A-48.

 

  • After Conil de la Frontera, head down 15km through the highway A-2233 to Los Caños de Meca, a destination with beaches, the natural park of Breña and marismas de Barbate and stunning sunsets. The many chiringuitos (beachfront bars and restaurants) of the beaches in this area a great option to have a snack between one beach and another.

 

  • From los Caños de la Meca head down to Zahara de los Atunes. It will take approximately half an hour by car before you get to Zahara de los Atunes, a beach paradise. This village owes its name to the great fishing of tuna available in the sea of this area. The many beautiful beaches, the promenade, the Castle of the Almadrabas and the life of this village make it a worth spot in the Costa de la Luz.

 

  • Tarifa is located 40km away from Zahara de los Atunes and is definitely a must-visit village of the Costa de la Luz. This is the place where the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet and the ideal spot to admire the views of the African Coast. Surfing and bathing in the beach, walking around the walled old quarter and tasting typical dishes will make your time in Tarifa wonderful. Tarifa stands approximately 100km away from the Parador de Cádiz, so after a day of beach, take the last drive through the N-340 and A-48 to return to the Parador and rest after an intensive beach-day.
