Arcos de la Frontera

Arcos de la Frontera is a unique village located in the province of Cádiz in Andalusia. The charm of the white villages is the protagonist of this little town where castles, rural tourism, fine wine and the beautiful Parador de Arcos de la Frontera await you.

The Parador de Arcos de la Frontera is housed in the former house of the local magistrate overlooking the Guadalete River and the spectacular town. This is the perfect spot from where to visit this village and start the route of the Pueblos Blancos (white villages).

While in Arcos de la Frontera, you can´t miss to admire stunning panoramic views from the Duke´s Castle and walk around the cobbled streets of the old quarter. The San Pedro Church, Santa María de la Asunción Church, the castle, the town hall are some of the mandatory stops.  Besides, this area is a rich wine-producing region, so take advantage of it an visit the wineries and vineyards while tasting some exquisite wines.

Grazalema

48km away from the Parador de Arcos de la Frontera you will find the beautiful town of Grazalema. This village is known for both the historic heritage and a beautiful natural landscapes with rainy weather. In here you will be able to discover the mountains of Grazalema and do outdoor activities. Besides, walking through the narrow and stoned streets of this village with Arab influences, admiring the many white houses laying on the hills and spending some time at the little squares are some of the things that you can do in Graazalema.

To get from the Parador de Arcos de la Frontera to Grazalema you will have to take a ride of approximately 1 hour through the A-372-

 

Ubrique

Ubrique is one other charming white village were handcrafts and leather good are the protagonists. Situated in a valley and surrounded by mountains and water, this impressive village is definitely worth visiting. Visiting the permanent leather exhibition is mandatory, also the historic quarter, the town hall, the church of Nuestra Señora de la O. the hermitage of San Pedro and many more things are available to visit in Ubrique.  Walk along the streets and discover the village and the art of the leather in Ubrique.

Ubrique stands 42km away from the Parador de Arcos de la Frontera and is easily accessible by taking a ride of approximately 40 minutes through the A-372 and A-373.

Algar

Only 20km away from the Parador de Arcos de la Frontera you will find Algar, a charming white village in the sierra of Grazalema. In here, historic heritage and natural landscapes are combined perfectly creating the beauty of this place. The square of the town hall and other important monuments such as the door of Alcalá de Algar, the bull ring and the Castle of Tempul are some of the historic sights around here.  Besides, the natural surroundings of this village offer the possibility of visiting the swamp of Guadalcacín, a beautiful spot overflown by eagles.

The Parador de Arcos de la Frontera is located 20 km away from Algar. To get from the Parador to Algar it takes a 30  minutes' drive through the CA-5221.

 

El Gastor

Located in the the skirts of the Tajo Algarín, this litte white village is perfect for a relaxing getaway of nature and fresh air. As an antique residence of prehistoric cultures, El Gastor is home of many dolmens, with the Dolmen del Gigante (dolmen of the giant) as the biggest and most important.  Besides, visiting the church of San José, the caves of Fariña and Susto and the Museum of uses and popular customs of El Gastor are some the sights that make visiting El Gastor definitely worth it.

From the Parador de Arcos de la Frontera until El gastor it takes approximately 1 hour by car through the A-384.
