Palencian Mountain and the Picos de Europa Route

Enjoy one of the largest concentrations of Romanesque constructions in the whole of Europe: the Palencian Mountain, in the north of the Cantabrian mountain range, where you will be able to visit the Picos de Europa and the National Park with the same name.

Days 1 and 2
Sunday and Monday.
This route is a true dream of nature and art. The Fuentes Carrionas y Fuente Cobre Natural Park recreates a varied natural museum full of ecosystems, leafy valleys, native flora and fauna and landscapes and scenery of incomparable beauty.

A spectacular and almost unknown chain of mountains rises up in this area, with some peaks at over 2,000 metres high and a natural area covered in beautiful lakes originating from glaciers. Whether on foot, or 4x4, etc., discovering this area is a true pleasure for all the senses. There are areas of special natural interest, such as Ruesga and el Valle Estrecho, La Pernía and Fuente Cobre, the Route of the Reservoirs and the Peña del Oso trail, etc.
Day 3
At the reception of the Parador de Cervera they will inform you of various possibilities for travelling to Fuente Dé, with the aim of you discovering the beauty of the mountain and the grandeur of the Picos de Europa. To the north of the Cantabrian Mountain Range, one of the most beautiful and spectacular mountain groups in the Iberian Peninsula can be found: the Picos de Europa, and the National Park with the same name.

The Parador is an excellent and privileged place to stay to discover this spectacular natural environment. The Fuente Dé cable car, located next to the Parador, will take you comfortably to the heart of the Macizo Central, or Urrieles and the Puertos de Aliva. Numerous and varied routes to enjoy this spectacular landscape will be suggested and advised to you by staff at the Parador.
