Route from the Costa Brava to the Val d'Aran

The landscapes of this Route will let you without breath. You will start your trip among beautiful beaches and fishermen villages; then, you will pass the Monastery of Caserres, and you will end it among high mountains. Visiting the "Romanic Churches Tour" will be the final climax of an unforgettable trip.

Days 1 and 2
Sunday and Monday.
This Parador, located in the heart of the Costa Brava, is a site of enormous beauty among pine trees on the slopes towards the sea, the beaches and the "calas". From Blanes to Portbou, the range of suggestions is full of essential proposals, like the Natural Parks of Cap de Creus, with the Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes and the village of Cadaqués, or the Natural Parks of Aiguamolls de l'Empordà and of "Illes Medes", or such singular landscapes like the Bay of Roses, the ruins of Empúries, the beaches of Begur and Palafrugell and the lighthouse of Sant Sebastià, the lovely gardens of Cap Roig, the "Villa Vella" or the old center of the village Tossa de Mar, or the botanic gardens of Santa Clotilde, Pinya de Rosa and Marimurtra, between Lloret and Blanes. The trip may also get us to discover places like Peralada -castle and casino-, Figueres, with the museum of the universal genius Salvador Dalí, medieval villages like Pals, Peratallada, Púbol, the handicraft ceramic of La Bisbal, the landscape around Pla de l'Estany, with its main village, Banyoles, or the town of Girona, with its cathedral and its Jewish quarter.
Day 3
In this Parador, we may enjoy silence and calmness in a unique setting, surrounded by mountains and with wonderful views on the Lago de Seu. Starting from the Parador, it is possible to make many hikes. Something the visitor should never miss is the visit to the monastery of San Pere de Casserres. Caserres is an old castle 8where during the 10th century already a church devoted to Sant Pere was located). The castle belonged to the Viscounts of Osona-Cardona, who founded the monastery in 1005. The near village of Vic offers interesting visits, like the Museo Episcopal (Bishop's Museum), the tower and the crypt of the cathedral, the Queralt Bridge, the castle of Montcada, Sant Sixt and the Albergeuría. Visitors should not miss talking a walk through the old centre and the narrow streets. Also not to forget the close capital town of Barcelona.
Days 4 and 5
Wednesday and Thursday.
In Seu, you may discover the cathedral of Santa Maria d'Urgell and the Museo Diocesano. You should also not miss the Canonges Street, with its arcades and numerous small shops. The "Parque Olímpico Del Segre" in Seu is an ideal spot for sports and leisure time, where visitors may practice canoeing, and rafting in installations used during the 1992 Olympic Games, which are now open for the public. The Natural Park of Cadí-Moixero offers landscapes of unbeatable beauty and the chance to discover the rich natural patrimony by walking. Visitors may also use their stay in the Parador for a short trip to Andorra and do some shopping or relaxing in the theme park devoted to the water, the largest one in Europe. Its name is Caldea and it offers 25.000 m2 for relax and joy, benefiting one's health.
Days 6 and 7
Friday and Saturday.
On our trip from Seu to Vielha, the beauty of the mountains of the Pyrenees will surprise you. Once in the Arán Valley, it is recommendable to make the "Romanic Route", discovering lovely places like Bossòst, Era Mair de Diu dera Purificación, Salardú, with the church of Sant Andrèu and Arties with the church of Santa Maria. The National Park of Aigüestortes y del Estany de Sant Maurice is so beautiful and majestic that it will overpass the visitor's capacity for being surprised. The National Park offers at any moment of the year the immense beauty of nature. Do no forget visiting the Spa of the Parador, where you will find opportunities for relaxing.
