Know the environment

The Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y las Villas Nature Reserve is located in Jaén province, 102 km from the city of Jaen. The nature reserve is an oasis of peace, where you can relax and enjoy a variety of activities, including air and water sports. The park is accessible by car, on foot, on horseback and on bicycle. The local climate lends each season of the year its own special charm, making it unique: from a winter refuge to long summer days enjoyed along the riverbanks.

Jaén is frontier territory. Every town in the province is filled with history and the traces of the many civilizations that have established a presence on the peninsula. Must-see examples include the Templar castle at La Iruela and the ruins of Renaissance Santa María Church.

What to do

The Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y las Villas Nature Reserve offers clean air and wilderness, a place for visitors to clear out the cobwebs and relax in a natural setting. Cazorla has a number of active tourism options, including walking, horseback riding, bicycle and 4x4 trails and excursions, as well as river rafting.

  • Exploring the valley
The most popular area of the park lies between the northern part of the Segura Mountains and the southern Cazorla Mountains. A number or local rivers and streams converge here, most noteworthy being the Aguamulas and the Borosa, which are both easy to reach and accessible. You can also walk up to Las Banderillas, one of the most spectacular peaks in the park.
