This Parador in the old Palace of Piedras Albas can be found in the historical quarter of Ávila, where it forms part of its iconic walls. The interior pays homage to the original setting of the rooms, creating an intimate and welcoming environment.

Beautiful decorations, stone floors, and even four-poster canopy beds come together to make a harmonious and light filled setting that combines tradition and modernity, with the latest features such a glazed patio and scalable rooms. The Parador is also surrounded by gardens that are ideal for relaxing and discovering its archaeological collection.

The historical character of the building has some effect on access for pedestrians. If you have any mobility issues, please contact the Parador so we can inform you about the best way to access the Parador.

Parador de Ávila

The Palace of Piedras Albas, now the Parador de Ávila, was built into the second line of the city’s defensive walls. Built in the 16th century, its architectural style is typical of the stately houses built in the Renaissance period.

The palace has undergone several changes over the centuries. The most notable one is the historicist reformations carried out in the 19th c., in which the tower was added. This part of the palace was home to a library with an extensive collection that which formed part of a small ethnographic museum in the city.

    Explore the surroundings in Ávila

The most representative symbol of Ávila are the city walls, which along with its Romanesque churches make it one of the most well-preserved walled cities in Europe. Inside you will find a beautiful medieval city with cobbled streets. The best way to discover Ávila is losing yourself in the old quarter, where amongst the monasteries and palaces you can see the first Gothic cathedral built in Spain, home to an impressive altarpiece by Berruguete. The Parador also celebrates the Medieval Seminars every year, which will take you deeper into the city’s history.

Ávila has many other treasures outside its walls. Discover its Celtic heritage with the famous Bulls of Guisando and the Castro de Cogotas or visit the beautiful medieval towns of Arévalo and Madrigal de las Altas Torres. Are you a nature lover? Just one hour’s drive takes you to the Parque Nacional de la Sierra de Gredos, donde where you can connect to nature on foot, by bike or on horseback. Even the little ones will be amazed by the topiary (clipped hedge sculptures) of the Bosque Encantado (Haunted Forest) in San Martín de Valdeiglesias.
